Challenge: Promote The Ocean Cleanup Collaboration
In 2016, DSM focused on enhancing the visibility of its alliance with the non-profit The Ocean Cleanup, to which it contributed through in-kind support. Their dual objectives were to elevate the profile of this partnership and to assist The Ocean Cleanup in achieving greater public exposure, with the end goal of helping rid our oceans of plastic.
Solution: Create High-Quality Film Featuring Boyan Slat
We conducted an interview with Boyan Slat, founder of The Ocean Cleanup (TOC), in our studio, enhancing the video’s visual appeal by projecting images onto him. Additionally, we produced an inaugural animated video that simplifies the explanation of the solution, highlighting DSM’s involvement in the project. This distinctive feature was then globally distributed across DSM’s, TOC’s, and BrightVibes’ channels and partners, in English, Dutch, and Spanish.
Impact: DSM’s Biggest Social Media Hit – Closer Collab
The numbers speak volumes: 5.1 million organic video views, over 3 million minutes of watch time, and 407,000 engagements, including 108,000 shares and 17,000 comments. However, these statistics only scratch the surface. This viral sensation not only marked an unprecedented achievement but also deepened the partnership between DSM and TOC. DSM’s former CEO even joined TOC’s Advisory Board and became a significant donor. Additionally, it boosted global donations and awareness for TOC.
