Dentist for Humanity is making a difference for underprivileged people in Amsterdam with hopes to expand to other cities soon.

A better tomorrow starts with the seeds we plant today

Since August 2016 Dentist for Humanity has been part of a preventive Dental Care project in The Netherlands, in association with the Najib Foundation, that is dedicated to patients with no or little access to dental care. In the future they hope to provide dental care for the homeless in Amsterdam and other cities throughout The Netherlands!

Reasons to be cheerful — one tooth free!

On March 7th 2017, Dentist for Humanity treated their first patient. Mr. Johnson was born and raised in Mississippi, Alabama, during a period that featured many changes, namely in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. After much turbulence in his life he ended up in the Netherlands and he became homeless due to various circumstances.

About 4 years ago, Mr. Johnson lost his front tooth, and this had an impact on his sense of identity. Mr. Johnson described a war that raged in him being homeless and missing a front tooth has created a lot of embarrassment and insecurity.

He became socially isolated, but fortunately he met a group of people at Koffiehuis Van de Volksbond Haarlemmerstraat that motivated him and helped him to stay away from drugs and alcohol. After many years of challenges, his life is now gradually improving. He is involved with motivating young people and encourages them to study. In this way he hopes to prevent them from ending up ivolved in crime. Meanwhile, Dentist for Humainty have provided him with a new front tooth and he feels reborn. Watch Mr. Johnson’s transformational treatment below.
