IFAW Gears Up to Assist Animals and Communities Devastated by Turkey – Syria Earthquake

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is stepping up its efforts to aid both animals and the communities affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

As the world comes together to respond to the devastating earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey and parts of Syria, leaving a path of destruction and loss of life, organizations like IFAW IFAW helps animals and their families impacted by disasters worldwide. We have decades of disaster response experience, so their teams and partners are expertly equipped to help animals and people in even the direst emergencies. https://www.ifaw.org/programs/disaster-response  do all they can to help animals in need.

The circumstances in Turkey and Syria are dire and especially severe in conflict-ridden Syria.

IFAW, with its decades of disaster response experience, is preparing to provide emergency support to local organizations and work with previously supported groups, like House of Cats Ernesto, which was the only animal sanctuary in Syria at the time.

IFAW states that search and rescue efforts continue in spite of overwhelming logistical challenges and severe winter weather. They are working with local animal rescue teams in the hardest-hit communities and, with their help, they are taking action on the following priorities:

  • Field assessments to identify unmet animal needs
  • Emergency interventions for displaced animals
  • Veterinary triage for injured animals

Our gratitude goes out to the selfless individuals and organizations like IFAW, who show up to help those in need. Join us in supporting IFAW by donating
