5 Winners of The Earthshot Prize Unveiled at Star-Studded Awards Ceremony in Singapore

Singapore on November 7, 2023. The Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony revealed the winners of the 2023 Earthshot Prize, highlighting outstanding innovators and environmental champions. Acción Andina, GRST, WildAid Marine Program, S4S Technologies, and Boomitra received the coveted award. Provided that, each secures a catalytic £1 million prize to support and expand their innovative solutions for addressing climate change and safeguarding the planet.

An Evening of Inspiration and Celebration

The global broadcast of the awards ceremony on BBC, PBS, MultiChoice, and other international channels drew a star-studded audience. The event, held at Singapore’s MediaCorp Theatre, featured dynamic hosts such as Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham and three-time Emmy Award-winning actor and producer Sterling K. Brown. The night was further enhanced by electrifying performances by renowned artists including Bastille, OneRepublic, and Bebe Rexha. What’s more, the awards were presented by influential figures like Cate Blanchett, Lana Condor, Robert Irwin, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Donnie Yen.

Furthermore, these five winners emerged from a pool of 15 finalists, all with innovative solutions set to make a significant impact on the environment and communities worldwide.

Meet the 2023 Earthshot Prize Winners

  1. Acción Andina – Protect and Restore Nature: Nominated by Salesforce. Firstly, Acción Andina is a grassroots initiative working in South America to preserve the valuable high Andean forest ecosystems, benefiting both nature and millions of local residents. Check our video.

  2. GRST – Clean Our Air: Nominated by Bluetech Clean Air Alliance. GRST introduces an innovative approach to building and recycling lithium-ion batteries, contributing to cleaner electric cars of the future.
  3. WildAid Marine Program – Revive Our Oceans: Nominated by Project Everyone. WildAid Marine Program is a global nonprofit organization with an important commitment to scaling marine enforcement to combat illegal fishing and bolster ocean protection worldwide.
  4. S4S Technologies – Build A Waste-Free World: Acknowledged by Acumen, Advaita Capital, Ashden, and the U.N. World Food Programme. S4S Technologies employs solar-powered dryers and processing equipment to combat food waste, empowering small-scale farmers to reduce waste and create valuable products.
  5. Boomitra – Fix Our Climate: Nominated by DPWorld, Impact Entrepreneur, and the U.N. World Food Programme. Boomitra pioneers a verified carbon-credit marketplace to incentivize land restoration, reduce emissions, and increase farmer profits across South America, Asia, and Africa.

The Journey to the Earthshot Prize

To start with, the quest to discover these exceptional winners started in December 2022. TEP began a global, 9-month search for the most inspiring and innovative solutions to address our planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. 59 subject-matter experts carefully chose the 15 Prize Finalists from over 1,100 worldwide nominations. These nominations underwent independent vetting by The Earthshot Prize’s implementation partners at Deloitte.

With this in mind, all 15 finalists will benefit from mentorship, resources, and technical support through TEP Fellowship Programme. A 1 long program designed to accelerate the growth of their groundbreaking solutions. It offers access to a vast network of influential businesses, investors, and climate experts.
