#CashMyTrash… These simple Deposit Return Holders Help The Dutch Recycle and save Money

Since the Netherlands introduced a deposit return system for small plastic bottles last year, people with little money can collect bottles from these holders on public bins and return them to supermarkets to collect the cash.

Make your city a sustainable and social forerunner

Deposit money does not belong in the waste bin. Neither do plastic bottles. That is why the Dutch are introducing the DoneerRing in the Netherlands. An iron ring around garbage cans where people can put their deposit bottles in, so that others can collect them in a dignified way for deposit money. This ring has already been installed in more than 100 German cities (and in Denmark), and always with enthusiastic reactions.

More and more cities attach ‘deposit return holders’ to public bins.

By placing the bottles in these holders, people with little money can return the bottles to supermarkets and collect the deposit. In the Netherlands, you receive Euro 0,15 for small pet bottles.
