Photographer and filmmaker Pablo Strong asked a random man in the street what kind of alternative society and culture he envisions, and the articulate stranger’s common sense reply is something we can all relate to and get behind.

Man in the street gets asked what is an alternative system to Capitalism?

‘Streets of London’ is a YouTube channel by photographer and filmmaker Pablo Strong, in which people quite literally on London’s  streets are asked their opinion on topics of the day. In episode 19, Strong approached a random man drawing chalk art on the pavement to ask what he thought about capitalism and how he envisioned an alternative future. The eloquent stranger was poet Balin Hobbs, and his hard-hitting, thought-provoking, simple logic will leave you speechless.

What sort of alternative society and culture do you envision?

“One that doesn’t make guns and bombs. One that’s not at war with itself constantly. One that doesn’t poison the air, doesn’t poison the land, doesn’t poison the sea. One that has enough respect for each other and the planet we live on and all the other life forms that share this planet that we live on. One that has enough respect for all of that. To live in a way that’s completely sustainable; that is beneficial to all of life, so that mankind becomes a simbiotic life-form that’s supporting the life of its host planet instead of being a parasitic life-form that’s devoiding its host planet of its ability to support life.”
