600 drones create breathtaking Van Gogh animation across night sky

On December 18 2020, EFYI Group and Tianjin University (China) created a very unique ‘starry night’ across Tianjin’s sky. Using 600 drones, they successfully achieved the Guinness World Records title for the longest animation performed by unmanned aerial vehicles with a time of 26 minutes 19 seconds. The animation depicted the life of the world-famous impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh.

The more the number of UAVs, the larger the formation size, the higher the requirements for the UAV’s cluster control system, it will test the transmission of UAVs and ground workstations, signal transmission, and anti-jamming ability.
According to the record’s guidelines, the participating drones must generate 12 images per second in order to be animated.
