Dutch Design Foundation | PONT

Government organizations and designers work together more and more. Designers help policy and services better align with societal needs. PONT supports this collaboration between civil servants, administrators and designers.

BrightVibes really delved into the cases and the people. Their approach was professional and authentic. We're happy with both the process and the final result - we still use the videos in workshops and presentations.

Challenge: Communicating the value of design approach

PONT wanted to better communicate what a design approach in the public domain can mean. The goal was to help designers who work with public organizations and public professionals understand how this collaboration works and what the impact can be. The challenge was to create concrete examples that show how the design approach contributes to societal challenges and how designers and civil servants can collaborate effectively.

Solution: Authentic conversations in a special setting

We designed a unique studio setup at Wolvenplein with beautiful design furniture. For eight cases, we interviewed both civil servants (or commissioners) and designers, both separately and together. By projecting relevant project images on them and asking them to bring meaningful physical objects, we created visually powerful stories of 3-4 minutes. All videos were optimized for different platforms and provided with subtitles. In addition to the videos, we also provided important input for the online case descriptions.

Results: Sustainable impact and international expansion

The eight videos were successfully deployed during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven and have been continuously used in workshops and other meetings since. A year later, several videos were adapted for English-speaking audiences, proving the international value of the content. All stakeholders – designers, public sector employees and PONT itself – were very satisfied with both the recording sessions and the final result. The videos performed fantastically on LinkedIn and continue to contribute to better understanding of the design approach in the public domain.
