Fossil fuel companies won’t like it
Good news! On Tuesday over 2000 individuals and corporations, including Leonardo DiCaprio, committed to pulling their investments out of fossil fuels companies. That’s an estimated $2.6 trillion!
The Fossil Free campaign is a global movement, committed to making public institutions divest from fossil fuel companies. ‘If it is wrong to wreck the climate, then it is wrong to profit from that wreckage’, they say.
This year has seen a lot more publicity for climate change campaigns, notably the Guardian’s Keep it in the Ground series.
There’s good news, though.
As publicity and investment into renewable energies and clean solutions grow, there are more initiatives being made available.
For example, check out this Dutch engineer who has created a smog ‘vacuum cleaner‘ to freshen up the air.
